Community-Focused Programming
A gathering centered around the work, influence, and continued experimentation of programmer and digital artist, Jamie Fenton.
Glitch’N’Games is a multi-day exploration of the shared histories and evolving cultures of glitch art and video games.
This second iteration, taking place across Chicago, focuses on physical engagement with systems, bringing together artists, game makers, circuit benders, and theorists through competition, installations, discussions, performances, and collaborative play.
Chicago is a uniquely fitting home for this project. The city exists at a historic crossroads of both glitch art and arcade culture: from early glitch artists and educators, to Bally, Williams, and Midway, to landmark games such as Mortal Kombat and Defender. It is also home to Jamie Fenton, creator of Digital TV Dinner on the Bally Astrocade, which is widely recognized as the first glitch artwork.
You can read more about the first iteration of this exhibition and the overall motivation in my thesis, Glitch Play. Until a gallery is made for this first event, here is a list of all of the artists that participated.
